Ritual Timeline
The timeline of Vishu rituals is beautifully structured, primarily spanning two days. Vishu Eve: The day is spent cleaning the house. By late evening, the eldest woman of the household carefully arranges the Vishukkani in the prayer room. Vishu Morning (Pre-dawn): Between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM, family members are woken up gently and brought to the prayer room blindfolded to view the Kani. Vishu Morning: After the Kani, people take a purifying bath, wear new clothes, burst crackers, and visit the temple. Vishu Afternoon: The day culminates with the grand Vishu Sadya, enjoyed together with family and friends.
