Kaineettam

Vishu Kaineettam is a cherished tradition that brings smiles to younger family members. 'Kaineettam' translates to the stretching out of hands to give or receive. Early in the morning, after viewing the Vishukkani, the eldest member of the family distributes money, usually coins accompanied by Kanikonna flowers, to the younger members, servants, and tenants.

This act symbolizes the sharing of wealth and wishing prosperity for everyone in the coming year. It reinforces respect for elders and strengthens family bonds. In modern times, Kaineettam has evolved, but the core essence of blessing the youth with abundance remains intact.
